The locomotive modernization was performed according to the documentation drawn up by ELECTROPUTERE - V.F.U. Division.

These locomotives are utilised for passenger trains hauling on S.N.T.F.- CFR railways network being able to trail modern cars.

For 5100 kW electric locomotive at ELECTROPUTERE, the following objectives have been taken into consideration:

  • providing of an increased reliability degree during operation

  • locomotive drive simplification

    • balancers constructive changes for getting access to 2 and 5 axle ends;

    • separate brake cylinders supply.

    3.3 Mechanic Installation

    Main changes being performed are as follows:

    • replacing of the driving cabs mineral wadding insulation by ISOVER type (imported) one or SR40 type one from Romania ;

    • driving cabs endowing with air conditioned unit of LIEBHERR type;

    • driving desk redesigned to ergonomic principles, manufactured of ABS thermoformable glass silk-sheeted plastic material and mounted on a metallic support;

    • ergonomic chairs in the driving cab;

    • adaptation of WLO129-6YH53-CFR SIEMENS pantographs having the following main characteristics:

      • minimum height, with isolators : 540+5 mm

      • minimum operational height, from the lowest position : 220 mm

      • maximum operational height, from the lowest position : 2200 mm

      • maximum raising height, from the lowest position : 2400 mm

      • length over horns : 1600 mm

      • maximum length, lowered position : 2440 mm

      • rated current : 700 A

    3.4. Electrical Installation

    The electrical installation modernization means constructive and operational integration of specific components (automatic programmable device and its peripheric devices, gateway, static converter for the auxiliary services supply, screw compressor, speed measuring unit, INDUSI microprocessor equipment, a.s.o).

    The electrical installation is formed up of:

    • high voltage apparatus;

    • low voltage apparatus;

    • diagnozis, adjusting and control equipment;

    • transformers;

    • rectifiers;

    • HBU LE 5100 kW static converter

    • traction motors;

    • motors and other assemblies for auxiliary services;

    • TEL1000 (including SIFA function too) speed recording and measuring equipment;

    • microprocessor I 60 R INDUSI speed punctual control equipment;

    • SIBAS 32multiple control unit.

    The high voltage apparatus is manufactured for 25 kV rated voltage, generally arranged on the locomotive roof and includes:

    • POLIM S28 type overvoltage discharger, ABB supplied, providing 35 kV voltage level;

    • A 100 231 V02 type separators, manufactured by ELECTROPUTERE, designed to connect the two pantographs; and the main breaken

    • BVAC type vacuum circuit breaker supplied by SECHERON, having the following main characteristics:

      • rated voltage: 25 kV

      • average working voltage : 27,5 kV

      • maximum voltage : 29 kV

      • average checking voltage at rated frequency : 75 kV

      • disconnecting time : 20 ... 60 ms

    Current and air circuits for pantograph drive.

    The main transformer is TFVL-580 one-phase, 50 Hz one. By means of the transformer, there is performed voltage adjustment in the traction motor supplying circuits in traction operating conditions and voltage adjustment too in the traction motor excitations during the electric braking operating conditions. The transformer assembly includes four transformers:

    • regulating transformer

    • traction transformer

    • braking transformer

    • current transformer

    All of them are arranged in the same tank onto there are mounted the transformer and graduator cooling equipment.

    Graduator

    The voltage regulation on the high voltage side is performed by an ASEA 40 steps type graduator. Graduator is formed up of an URELA 30/35 AI-503 selector, a CKKJA-8;AO-224 driving and load interrupting device and a MCG2 type driving motor.

    Rectifiers

    The traction motors are supplied from a transformer by rectifying bridges (one rectifier for each traction motor).

    Flattening Coil

    Is made up of a core common to the six traction motor galvanically-separated windings.

    Traction Motor of LJE 108 type is a DC 8 pole compensating winding and forced cooling motor.

    Diagnozis, regulating and control equipment is formed up of CER 6096T type automatic programmable unit and its accessories (main controller, speed transducer for each axle, current and voltage transducers, electro-pneumatic valves for each axle slipping, displays) providing the processing and sending to the executing components for the driver performed controls (so being replaced the majority of the control and the intermediary relays), equipment interblocking and protections, the traction and braking processes automatic regulation, displaying on cab displays the locomotive operational characteristics, the condition of the electric equipment main components and the error messages when the respective condition is an unusual one.
